UNESCO

UNESCO believes that since wars begin in the minds of men and women, it is in the minds of men and women that peace must be built. The organization uses education, science and culture to inform, inspire and engage people everywhere to foster understanding and respect for each other and the planet.

KAICIID has partnered with UNESCO since 2013 to promote peace and inclusive education, signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding in 2014.

In 2017, the Centre collaborated on the launch of a regional network for Global Citizenship Education in the Arab States, and also contributed to educational tools which promote diversity and trust. Additionally, KAICIID has supported the development of a toolkit for inclusive curricula which is free from gender, cultural and religious stereotypes, as well as curriculum which trains religious leaders in media literacy.

Together, UNESCO and KAICIID have worked to encourage the preservation of sacred sites, which is a key focus of the Centre’s work, with additional consultation meetings planned in 2022.
