John Mugisa is currently working as the Coordinator for the Foundation for Peace and Development (FPD) whose most activities are implemented in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In the past, he has worked as an Advisor to some Congolese Government Ministers and Programme Officer where he has gained extensive knowledge and skills in, respectively international cooperation and development, and programme management. In addition, he is a trainer and youth entrepreneurship motivational speaker. He holds a Ph.D. in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. Furthermore, he has received many trainings in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Since 2018, he has been involved in interreligious dialogue, coming from the perspective that religious leaders are regarded as moral warrants, trustworthy and credible among communities and thus can play a pivotal role to engage militia men with the aim of increasing understanding and addressing the root causes of ethnic conflicts in eastern DRC.

He loves travelling, meeting new people, and encountering various cultures and beliefs. His motto is: “Unity in diversity.”
