Dr. Abdul Hamid Bashir is a scholar of Islamic studies and interreligious engagement with over a decade of academic and community experience across Africa, the Middle East, and the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies with a focus on Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith, and comparative theology from L’Université Privée Africaine Franco-Arabe (UPAFA). His research addresses the misuse of religious texts by extremist groups through analysis rooted in classical Islamic sources.

Based in Philadelphia, Dr. Bashir serves as resident scholar at Markazul Quran a subsidiary of West African Community Center, where he provides lectures, mentorship, religious guidance, and training for emerging leaders. He is also involved in civic and interfaith initiatives and serves as a Fellow of Faith for Our Planet. He also contributes to interfaith advisory boards, including with the African Union Interfaith Dialogue Platform, Interfaith Dialogue on Violent Extremism (iDove) and was recently recognized as an Eisner Prize Fellow.
