United National Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)

Since its establishment in 2005, the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) has become a leader in intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation. The Alliance maintains a global network of partners including states, international and regional organizations, civil society groups, foundations, and the private sector to improve cross-cultural relations between diverse nations and communities. It operates across four main pillars: Education, Youth, Migration and Media.

In May 2017, KAICIID and UNAOC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in honor of their joint commitment to fostering peace through interreligious and intercultural dialogue. This MoU was renewed in October 2020, with a focus on the significant potential of faith-based organizations, youth, women, and the media in advancing interreligious and intercultural dialogue, particularly in societies affected by identity-based conflicts.

Since 2019, KAICIID has been a part of the UNAOC Group of Friends and has supported the development of the UN Plan of Action to Safeguard Religious Sites.

In October 2020, KAICIID and UNAOC partnered with the G20 Interfaith Forum Association and the National Committee for Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the organization of the 7th G20 Interfaith Forum, an annual platform which promotes dialogue and cooperation between religious leaders and policymakers on the world’s most pressing humanitarian and development issues.
