Dr. Alba Sabaté Gauxachs

Researcher, Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture

Alba Sabaté Gauxachs is a journalist and professor at Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. She is also a doctoral candidate at the same institution, through a grant from the European Social Funds and is working on a dissertation on literary digital journalism and interreligious dialogue. She holds two master’s degrees: one in religion and communication and the other in advanced journalism.

Alba is a researcher at the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture, which is an interdisciplinary centre for research and dissemination in the field of communication and religion. In the Observatory, she is involved in international projects that address among other issues:  interreligious and intercultural dialogue, migration and technology, women and their visibility, youth, visual culture and the freedom of expression, missionaries and oral history, religious sites and the creation of community. She is also the coordinator of the master’s degree in international journalism programme at the same school.

Since June 2019, she is member of the Global Board of Directors of the World Association for Christian Communication. She was also a visiting researcher at Boston College in 2018 through a grant from the institution “Societat Econòmica Barcelonesa d’Amics del País” and served as coordinator for m4social.org project, carried out jointly by Barcelona’s City Council, Mobile World Capital Foundation and Taula d’Entitats del Tercer Sector, the principal federation of social entities in Catalonia.
