During a speech at the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York (24 September 2013), Austrian President Heinz Fischer made particular mention of Vienna’s newly established King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID).
The Austrian leader said, “I am also pleased to inform that the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue was inaugurated in Vienna on November 26th of last year. The Centre – a joint initiative by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Austria – serves as an interactive platform for religious leaders, experts, and civil society alike.”
In response, KAICIID Secretary General Faisal Bin Muaammar said, “We at KAICIID are deeply honoured by, and appreciative of, this mention by His Excellency, Dr Heinz Fischer. Through his speech, the Austrian President has sent a clear message about the acceptance of KAICIID in Austria and about the importance of dialogue.”
