Program Manager at Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights
Monica Tawdros is a projects Manager at Maat for Peace, Development, and Human Rights. Maat association is an Egyptian NGO based in Cairo since 2005. For more than 15 years, Maat has implemented more than 30 projects in cooperation with almost 25 international development partners. Maat is in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, a member of the General Assembly of the AU ECOSOCC, the coordinator of the North African Group at the UN HLPF, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian National Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, and obtains an observer status in African Commission on Human and Peoples’ rights.
Monica has participated in several youth exchange programs and attended different Youth mobility projects by Erasmus+, which promotes the role of Youth in enhancing peace and combating extremism. In 2019, she managed a regional project on UNSCR 2250 supported by the North-South Center of the Council of Europe, and in 2020, she managed an IRD project that was responsive to the Covid-19 pandemic supported by Kaiciid. She is also a youth worker and trainer for young activists on countering terrorism and hate speech, as well as building peace through international mechanisms. She is a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
