In a world which faces constant unrest and conflict, information technology is becoming increasingly relevant – especially for daily life. While face-to-face dialogue is restricted to local communities, today’s digital tools such as the internet and social media can bring people together from around the world. Interreligious dialogue can particularly benefit from an intelligent and positive use of digital tools, building diverse, online communities through a lively, global interfaith discourse. This module explores the religious phenomenon on virtual communities and social networks, as well as the impact of social media on interreligious dialogue. It also looks at the achievements interreligious dialogue has made in the digital world, as well as the potential challenges to be confronted.
