The International Dialogue Centre - KAICIID is seeking a Consultant to lead review and refining of Fellows Programme curriculum including its content and structure.
An Introduction to KAICIID
The International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) is a unique International Organization which brings together religious leaders, policymakers, and experts with the aim of finding common solutions to shared problems. Our vision is a world where there is respect, understanding, and cooperation among people, justice, peace and reconciliation, and an end to the abuse of religion to justify oppression, violence, and conflict.
The primary objective of the Programme Division is to create the conditions, platforms and environment through which religious leaders and other actors, in particular policy makers, can engage in constructive dialogue, thus strengthening mutual understanding and respect with the ultimate aim of encouraging them to initiate action and influence change in the policies of religious institutions and governments, at various levels, build mechanisms to facilitate on-going dialogue and action, as well as strengthen networks of committed and experienced religious leaders and other actors in the use of IRD/ICD for peace and reconciliation in conflict situations in particular.
KAICIID’s Programme Division is organised into two Sections: Regional Programmes and Capacity Building with Partnerships as support. There are four regional programmes (Africa, the Arab region, Asia, and Europe), and now making inroads into Latin America. As part of the ongoing effort to consolidate and enhance the Fellows Programme curriculum, KAICIID has launched a multi-phase project to review and refine its content and structure. This Terms of Reference focuses on identifying elective modules, strengthening thematic and technical areas through inclusive collaboration, and integrating practical learning tools.
One experienced Fellow will be engaged as Curriculum Consultant to lead this phase. The consultant will analyse the current curriculum, design improvements, facilitate alumni working groups, integrate feedback, and produce a draft of the revised curriculum publication
Objectives:
The main objectives of this role are to:
• To deliver a comprehensive, evidence-based, and participatory redesign of the KAICIID International Fellows curriculum that meets international standards of curriculum development, integrates intercultural and experiential learning methodologies, and results in a complete, high-quality draft ready for publication and implementation.
• Coordinate the organization of ad hoc or specific subgroups and task forces consisting of working group members and other Fellows alumni as needed.
• Contribute to the design of the overall curriculum, including core and elective modules and the integration of skills-based experiential learning.
• Contribute to the development of an updated bibliography and resources to support the curriculum.
• Advise on relevant e-learning resources for possible inclusion.
• Other tasks related to the Curriculum review process as directed by the Fellows Senior Programme Manager.
Deliverables:
Coordinate the Curriculum Working Group
Diagnostic and Redesign Phase
- Conduct a complete analysis of the current Fellows curriculum using a competency-based and experiential learning framework.
- Identify gaps in thematic depth, sequencing, assessment, delivery modes, inclusivity, and accessibility.
- Propose an updated curriculum architecture that clearly defines competencies, learning outcomes, and links between core and elective modules.
- Prepare an Inception Report summarizing methodology, findings, and the proposed new curriculum format.
- Submit to KAICIID the revised curriculum format and analytical notes.
- KAICIID will design and convene the working groups in consultation with the consultant, ensuring diversity of religion, region, gender, and expertise.
- The consultant will send the revised curriculum skeleton and explanatory notes to all selected Fellows through KAICIID.
- Fellows will be given one week to review the draft, evaluate it, and submit a concise one-page feedback note outlining their observations and recommendations.
- The consultant will consolidate and analyse the written feedback to guide the co-design sessions.
Participatory Co-Design Phase
- KAICIID will formally convene and confirm the composition of working groups based on diversity and expertise.
- The consultant will facilitate and co-design meetings (virtual), using Fellows’ written feedback as the foundation for structured discussion and refinement.
- Consultant will ensure inclusive participation and equitable representation across all groups.
- Consultant will integrate validated inputs into revised lesson plans, facilitator guides, assessment strategies, and proposals for e-learning integration.
- Consultant will prepare concise working group summaries capturing major insights, challenges, and agreed actions.
Key Deliverables:
Diagnostic and Redesign Phase:
- Inception note & work plan (methodology, timeline, stakeholders); full diagnostic/gap analysis.
- Revised curriculum architecture v1 (competencies, learning outcomes, core/elective map, sequencing, assessment approach).
- Brief report outlining updated core & elective modules, lesson plans.
- One structured-dialogue example.
- Two dialogical activities proposal, with rationale, objectives, and content structure; analytical notes.
Participatory Co-Design Phase:
- Facilitation of virtual working-group sessions.
- Summaries/notes with key inputs and action points.
- Integration of Fellows’ feedback into lesson plans.
- Draft synthesis report (overview of all contributions).
- Final curriculum skeleton (TOC + module outlines, outcomes, assessments, delivery modes)
Management Arrangement:
The consultant will report to the Senior Programme Manager, Fellows, with technical guidance from the Senior Capacity Building Officer.
The Senior Capacity Building Officer will support coordination of Fellows’ feedback and logistics for working group sessions.
Any change in scope, deliverables, or timeline must be agreed in writing prior to implementation.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Alumnus/a of the KAICIID Fellows Programme.
- Mandatory expertise in curriculum and training development, with demonstrated experience in design, facilitation, and evaluation.
- Minimum seven years of professional engagement in interreligious and intercultural dialogue (IRD/ICD), with a proven record of collaboration with faith-based organizations and dialogue institutions.
- Experience in higher-education leadership or coordination of educators and researchers.
- Experience designing and facilitating participatory workshops.
- Strong facilitation and coordination skills in multicultural settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, writing, reporting and presentation skills in English.
- Efficiency in fulfilling commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.
Languages
- English proficiency (written and spoken).
Terms of Appointment
Duration: Maximum of 20 working days, where 8 hours of work constitute one working day (including inception time, workshop delivery and follow-up, completed until the end of the year.
Location: Remote.
The consultancy fee will be offered in accordance with KAICIID consultancy rates, depending on the experience and expertise of the selected candidate.
